How the challenge started and who leads it
For over two decades, Timeless Learning, Inc. has focused on fostering children's literacy through mission-driven programs. Our vision: a world where every young learner has the opportunity and confidence to change the future.
Building on that foundation, the S.T.E.A.M. Race to Space Reading Challenge launched in 2021 in partnership with 4SPACE Co and the Orange County Department of Education. The challenge continues each year with schools across Orange County, California.

Why S.T.E.A.M.
Helping students imagine bigger possibilities
We believe introducing S.T.E.A.M. books early can cultivate a greater passion in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics — and open more opportunities for students in the future.
Those opportunities matter as more careers rely on STEM skills. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projections show STEM employment is expected to grow 8.1% from 2024–2034, compared with 2.7% for non-STEM occupations.
